PROMPTING FOR THE SALT AND PEPPER FEST IS
Before you run off to leave us all your fab prompts, please check out the general rules for this fest and the prompting guidelines below!
Prompt Guidelines
1. Anyone can leave a prompt regardless of whether or not you're planning on claiming one. Submitting a prompt doesn't commit you to anything.
2. You can leave up to seven prompts. Prompts can be in the same comment or listed separately.
3. Prompts must be relevant to the theme of this community - any canon character at 50+. (i.e. a prompt focusing on Harry as a young parent would not fit.)
4. That said, we want all sorts of prompts! Fluffy, angsty, light or dark, gen, slash, femslash, het, threesome/moresome, character studies, mysteries, drama, comedy--anything goes!
5. Keep in mind that this is not a gift exchange. Your name will not be listed with your prompt in the claiming stage or when the fest is posting. Claimers will also be able to deviate from the prompt if their muse goes in a different direction (switch out characters, go with a different overall tone, etc.)
6. Prompts may be edited for clarity.
7. Prompting is open now until the end of Sunday, Nov 17th (midnight, EST). We'll edit this post when prompting is closed.

Prompt: James Potter and Sirius Black both thought paintings were supposed to capture youth. They are surprised to find one another in a painting, much older and both searching for something.

Prompt: At fifty-something newly single Harry Potter feels out of kilter with his friends who all seem so settled. He just wants to enjoy himself and try new things. Some new things in particular.

Theme/Tone: Exploratory, Fifty is the new Twenty!, Fun, Eager Harry
Additional Info: Would love if Harry's pretty cool about being attracted to men (bi Harry?) but just never had the chance to do anything about it
Prompt: After years of fairly vanilla sex, Character A finally feels ready to talk

Theme/Tone: Kink exploration, Sexy
Additional Info: Exploring kink later in life would be awesome to see. What the specific kink is that drives the discussion is up to the creator

Additional Info: Their lives have got such different directions that it’s difficult for them to understand each other’s hardships. Perhaps two of them are a couple, and one has never found a partner who would have been a true friend, too. Perhaps one is burnt-out in his/her/their career, perhaps one burdened by a mentally ill daughter or son – who’s now an adult, therefore not to be taken as burden, as a childless character points out.

Prompt: they may be getting older, but it doesn’t mean they have to act older. Two female characters who have fun or cause mischief, love and laughter!!

Prompt: Coming back together. They had a love as teenagers, first love that burned bright but burned out. They both agreed they were better as friends, but have always loved each other still. Now that they’re older, it seems like maybe the time is right again, and they find their way back to each other again.
Suggested Characters/Pairings: Maybe Lavender/Parvati? But any femslash really!!
Theme/Tone: Finding love again
Additional Info: I would prefer this to have been a mutual split, and the characters were happy, not unrequited love or star crossed lovers. Just that the time was wrong then, and for a long time their love was platonic, but now it seems like the time is right again.

Additional Info: You could do some worldbuilding with this around how magic could be used for transition (maybe it used to be forbidden and now attitudes are changing?) but physical transition doesn't have to be the focus or included at all.
