Welcome to the new (and permanent!) sign-up post for Bathilda Bagshot's Bingo! We've revamped the challenge a little to hopefully streamline the process and make it easier for all to jump in whenever you wish. So folks who've played before, there will be a few small changes! Please take note. [Also if you've signed up for one of the previous rounds and wish to continue your claim, please sign up again. Thanks!]
What is it?: Bathilda Bagshot's Bingo is an on-going challenge to encourage more works featuring characters over 50. Fic, art, graphics, icons, fanvids--whatever you can think of--all of it is welcome!
How does it work? Decide on a character or pairing on which to focus your works, then pick out your Bingo card from the three categories below (Muggle, Magical, Mixed). Your challenge will be to complete a bingo (fill in a horizontal/vertical/or diagonal line) by creating pieces for those prompts. If you're feeling particularly inspired, go for a blackout!
What is the deadline? There is no deadline! Bang them out in a week or take your time working through your Bingo card over a few months. The only caveat being that you can only work through one claim/Bingo card at a time.
What are the requirements for fic/art/graphics/etc.? There are no minimums and no maximums. For example, for writers, you could do anything from a drabble to a chaptered epic for each prompt. For artists, anything from sketches, to comics, to whatever you can dream of. A single icon can satisfy a prompt, or you can do a whole set. If you have questions on what is and isn't allowed, please ask below, but more often than not, we're going to say "go for it!"
How strict are you about the prompts? Prompts are there to inspire, not to constrict, so please interpret them as broadly as you would like.
The Hard and Fast Rule: All pieces must conform to community rules and guidelines that can be found in our profile.
What do you mean, Muggle, Magical, Mixed? Each Bingo card follows a theme: Magical will feature prompts exclusive to the Harry Potter universe (potions, spells, magical items, etc.). Muggle will be common everyday prompts. We also have a couple seasonal-themed cards in the Muggle category. Finally, Mixed is a table you can put together yourself, taking prompts from each. You'll be given a blank table code and can fill it in however you wish with prompts from the two categories.
Where do I post my works? Please crosspost your works here! You can post them in full or simply link to your journal or favorite archive/posting place. All regular community posting guidelines apply.
Please add the [Bathilda Bagshot Bingo] tag to your entries.
I've finished a Bingo. What now? Once you've completed a Bingo, reply to your original sign-up comment to let us know. We'll post your name and a link to your table on our Bingo Winners Masterlist*! Then you can either claim a new card/new character or go for a Blackout with your current card.
*We will be adding previous Bingo winners to this list as well from the first go around of the challenge. So if you've played and completed a Bingo before, you'll be there!
I've finished a Blackout! Awesome! Reply to your original sign-up comment to let us know! We'll make you a personalized banner if you'd like one and you'll go on our Blackout Honor Roll. :D
Someone already claimed the character/pairing I wanted. :C No worries! You can sign up with them as well. There are no exclusive claims. You might consider picking a different table than the first claimer, but it is not against the rules to use the same one!
Great, I'm in! How do I sign up? Copy the code for your chosen card and put it on your journal/fic community to keep track of your progress. Fill out the sign-up template below [with your claim (character or pairing), the Bingo card you've chosen, and a link to your table] and put it in a comment here.

Date: 2016-02-08 09:22 pm (UTC)I also would love to partecipate, but I have a question. So: "Your challenge will be to complete a bingo (fill in a horizontal/vertical/or diagonal line) by creating pieces for those prompts" ... does this mean that basically I have to write multiple stories or just a story with all the key words?
I mean, if for example I choose Muggle 1 and go horizontal I have to do five stories or five chapters each one for thief, cave, comb, pebble and tears? Or just the one you choose for me? (For example, you choose cave and I only have to do that)
Thanks!

Date: 2016-02-08 09:54 pm (UTC)To answer your questions: You pick out whatever table you want and however you'd like to make a bingo. You can use all prompts in one story (like in your example, one prompt per chapter) or do five separate stories. They can be as short or as long as you'd like. You can do five drabbles or five ficlets or one one-shot with five sections (one for each prompt), or a multi-chaptered fic using one prompt per chapter, etc. However you want to divide it up that best works for you, we're all good with!
We don't pick anything out for you; you pick the table you want to work with and the line of prompts you'd like to work with (or conversely, you can go for a blackout.) It's a very flexible challenge!
I hope I've answered your questions. Let me know if you have more or if anything's confusing!

Date: 2016-02-08 10:02 pm (UTC)I was mistaken, I thought that the mods had to choose the line or the starting prompt, for some reasons. Now it's clear. Now I have to think about the eventual story :D

Date: 2016-02-09 01:39 pm (UTC)I'm also new to the fandom in general so I'm reading many HP fanfics and trying to understand what are the things that I don't need to do, 'cause the fandom already provided (Difficult stuff, the HP fandom is huge!)

Date: 2016-02-14 06:51 am (UTC)To answer your questions: You can take any of the prompts on any of the tables to make up your mixed table. You should fill out the whole table with prompts so if you decide later you want to go back and do a second bingo with the same table or a blackout, the prompts are there (also the coding will work better if you have prompts in every box). But I suppose that's not strictly necessary if you know you're just going to do the single bingo.
I hope that helps!!
(Also just realized I'm logged into my personal account and not the mod account, but I'm one of the mods here! :D)

Date: 2022-03-24 06:47 pm (UTC)Do I need to pick a specific character or pairing, or is it also possible to choose broader, for example Slytherins in general or Slyth/Gryff pairings?
Tnx!
