"I've got something I've been wanting to talk to you both about," Harry began. He was excited by the prospect of his proposal but also nervous. What if they weren't as keen as he'd hoped?

"Everything all right, mate?" Ron said when several moments had passed.

"You aren't ill, are you?" Hermione chimed in.

"No, no. It's nothing like that." Harry shook his head. "You know I've been doing some renovations on the house while you were on holiday. Now that Lily's moved out, it's a lot of house for just me."

What was once Harry's family home, with five family members and two crups, had dwindled one by one. First to leave was Ginny mid-way through Lily's third year at Hogwarts. The stress of their careers as well as different needs within their relationship drove them apart in the end.

Then Al when he took a job in Wizarding security systems and moved to Japan. James used their house as a home base while he waited for his Quidditch career to take off, not moving out until he and Hamish Wood took up together. And then, after a painful breakup, Lily finally was ready to move out and move on.

"And I know you two have been talking about getting a smaller place and leaving this one to Rose and her family."

"Harry—" Hermione started to interrupt but Harry held up his hand.

"Let me finish explaining, all right?"

"Of course." Hermione leaned over and patted his knee. He lay his hand over hers and squeezed.

"Might be best if I show you." Harry laughed. "I'm still better with actions than words even after all this time."

"You want us to see what you've done with the place?" Ron asked.

"Yeah."

Ron set down his ale and stood. "No time like the present."

"Hermione?" Harry asked.

"Let's go." She gestured toward the Floo and Harry reached for the Floo powder.

"Godric's Hollow!"

Harry tumbled out of the Floo and waited for Ron and Hermione.

"All right, Harry, let's see these renovations." Ron clapped him on the shoulder. "Please tell me you put in the heated pool I've been dreaming of. My knees will thank you for it."

"Prat," Harry said, chuckling. "The main floor is the same. No reason to change the kitchen or living room, though I did make the old playroom into an office for Hermione as there were already loads of bookshelves."

"For me?" Hermione asked as he walked them to the double doors and let them look inside. "It's perfect, Harry! It's almost exactly like my office at the Ministry, only without the—"

"Tiny window," Ron and Harry said at the same time.

"Most of the changes are upstairs." Harry climbed the staircase, walking past the family photos that lined the wall. Had his baby girl really just turned thirty? He still couldn't believe it.

"I took each of the children's bedrooms and made them into rooms for each of us. Ron, you're in Jamie's here," he said, gesturing to the room on the right-hand side of the corridor. "I left up some of the Chudley Cannons décor."

"Thanks, mate," Ron said with a laugh.

"I've taken Al's." Harry pointed left. "And Hermione, you have Lily's opposite the guest room."

"It's not still pink with Pygmy Puffs, is it?" Ron asked. "I think Hermione's outgrown that phase."

Harry shook his head and chuckled. "I based the colour-scheme off your living room actually as I know Hermione's always loved it."

"It's wonderful, Harry," she said, beaming at him.

"The master bedroom is essentially the same though I've moved most of my things into Al's room. The bed and other furniture remains unchanged since the last time you visited." Harry felt it was important that they had rooms of similar size conveying that they were equals in this arrangement.

"Each room has its own bath though the en suite has the large claw-footed tub if you want a nice soak."

"That sounds divine." Hermione sighed dreamily.

"Last, the guest room will remain a guest room in case any of the children visit or if either of you have company."

Harry hadn't entertained anyone except Ron and Hermione in some time but he wasn't certain whether either of them still had other long-standing lovers as they had in the past. It was best to leave the option open unless they explicitly stated otherwise.

"You seem to have thought of everything." Ron wrapped his arm around Hermione's shoulder. "I'm game if she is."

Harry nodded. He had known it would come down to what Hermione wanted. "What do you think, Hermione? You don't need to decide today—Ooof!" Harry found himself enveloped in her arms.

"You are brilliant, Harry Potter!" she said, laying her head against his chest and hugging him tight. "There's not a thing I would change."

"Wow, you've done well, mate." Ron grinned. "She never said that to me in over forty years."

"Oh, stop." Hermione kept her arms around Harry as she rolled her eyes at Ron. "We'll speak to Rose but I don't see any obstacles."

Harry pressed a kiss to the top of her head, her curls a bit greyer but still as untameable as ever. "You're welcome to move in as soon as you're ready, whether it's tomorrow or next month."

"And tonight?" She looked up at him with a gleam in her eye that still made him feel warm all over.

"Ron?"

"Whatever the lady wants, the lady gets." He bowed and kissed the back of her hand. "If you two don't mind, I've got inventory with George in the morning so I need to get some sleep. But I can't wait to try out the bed in my room."

"Fair enough." After navigating a polyamorous relationship that began when Lily and Hugo were in their final year at Hogwarts, they were all much better about expressing their wants and needs without fear of hurt-feelings and hidden agendas. Open and honest communication kept everyone happy. "Why don't you two go pack an overnight bag and I'll fix supper?" Harry asked.

"I'll bring back a bottle of something fizzy to celebrate." Hermione kissed Harry's cheek, then Ron's before Disapparating.

"Woman on a mission." Harry shook his head. "You good with this, Ron?"

Ron nodded and pulled Harry into a fierce Weasley hug. "Never better."
