Recs!

I thought maybe we could start by gathering up some recs. Anyone have any favorite older character fic and art they'd like to share? Feel free to rec yourself if you'd like to point to one of your own creations.

Remember all pairings and characters are welcome. I'd love to see what's out there in the Potterverse that I might have missed. :)

Draco and Harry are 48 in this fic (i don't know if it's a strict rule they have to be over 50)

If it's okay to self-pimp, I've got this one (written before book 7 was published):

Title: The Life in Your Years
Author: [livejournal.com profile] fourth_rose
Characters/Pairings: H/D, Snape/Hermione
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 5600
Content/Warning(s): Mention of previous character death (not Harry or Draco)
Summary/Prompt: Fifty years into the future, Harry and Draco are about to find out that 'growing old together' sounds a lot more romantic than it actually is.

Gah! I keep hitting a wrong key, and my post disappears ... 3rd attempt:

Two fics by [livejournal.com profile] wemyss:

1. Bezique; no specific age given, but their kids are all grown, so I'm assuming it fits. A knowledge of British politics would help, as Kingsley Shacklebolt is about to retire and wants Harry et al. to take up the reins. So the Trio stands for Muggle elections (Hermione for Labour, natch), and Draco tries to get onto the Wizengamot. Non-explicit H/D, but The Epilogue happened.

2. Chì mi na sgoran fo cheò: Only winds and rivers, life and death

It's a sequel (of sorts) to [livejournal.com profile] wemyss' earlier story "POtter's Lock" (also at the author's AO3 account), but can be read as a standalone. Again, H/D shortly before Teddy Lupin's wedding, so the age range should be right. H/D and Teddy are sailing around Scotland, so you get Harry in a kilt, crazy American tourist spies, and Harry taking on the Loch Ness monster. Of course. :)

Ooh look, a shiny new comm. I look forward to participating when I get home from vacation. (I just happened to see it now because LJ sent me an email that I'd been mentioned in a post. Thanks kindly for the rec!)

May I just point out the comm [livejournal.com profile] hoggywartyxmas? It's a Christmas fest that focusses on the older characters, and a great deal of stories would fit the bill, although they are not indicated by age.

But people who like older characters would find lots to please them through the various masterlist tags.

Oh gosh, I'd like to play, but of the fics that fit the intent, they're nearly all in a gray area about the letter of the law. (Threesome where two of the three are over 50? A story equally about two couples, where three of the four characters are over fifty, so one couple qualifies and the other is only half eligible? I do not even know where to start on the fic with lots of ghost characters along with some of the living ones.) :)

But I do have one story that clearly qualifies, because I don't go along with Pottermore birthday retcons: A Christmas Fairy Tale With Sex and Goats (Aberforth/Minerva, R)
