Sorry this took so long, but dinner turned into dinner and drinks with friends and…well anyway.
So much love for this fic. I adore how it starts out…you just know there's something between these two, but it's just below the surface. Like a spring bud waiting to burst through the soil and blossom into something wonderful.
And then we move to the present. Draco discovering Potter isn't quite who he thought. Ron's reaction was so typical and yet understandable. I loved how Draco got Harry to go leave and go somewhere Muggle to avoid people.
Draco's attempt to be nonchalant was so perfectly Draco. “I couldn’t care less about your sordid love life, Potter.” Draco dabs at the corner of his mouth with a napkin and pauses. “Was it the first time?” lol
And how perfect that Sirius' old diaries were the thing that trigged the realization for Harry that he's gay.
I love how broken they both are and yet have led successful lives. Harry being married to his best friend, because he thought that's what you do. Always doing what he thought was the right thing but finally growing up and realizing that life is so much more.
Every interaction with Draco was filled with emotion and that ache for each other – just out of reach. And when Draco asked Harry to his flat…I love how Harry wanted things to be honest between them – no more pretending.
And when Harry leaves and comes back. I love how vulnerable Draco felt and then to discover why Harry was gone so long. How perfect Harry was in dealing with Draco and talking about them as a "them".
Anyway, this is probably disjointed and doesn't make much sense, but I love the way you write and this is just another of your fics that goes into my "read over and over" file. Thanks for giving us a glimpse of and older H/D getting together. It's perfect!! ♥
